Installation at Centre A

This past week has been a blur of activity: installing my work at Centre A and starting to teach a new drawing class at Emily Carr University. After months of experimentation in my studio this photo represents my contribution to the SLOW: Relations + Practices exhibition. I’ll post better documentation later.

  1. Hi Elizabeth – I really love this installation and the way in which the faces recede and come forward from the surface of the wall — and how they even appear to weave around the horizontal vents (which look like dashes in the photo here). In your post “Beyond Soliloquy,” you stated that the installation of the faces would, of course, change once in the gallery setting – and that some things would be beyond your control. I am intrigued by the way you utilized the “givens” (hindrances and advantages) of the gallery — and how the work of your co-collaborators affected your decisions on the installation. Looking forward to the first open studio on Thursday, to seeing the exhibition again and to hearing you and Jin-me speak about your experiences and insights.
    Congratulations on a fantastic exhibition!
