First Person Plural was a weekend of discussion, video screenings and performance focusing on the multiple roles held by artist mothers and the impact they have upon art practice, both for individuals and the art world at large.
I co-organized the conference with Martha Townsend and it was coordinated by Vera Lemecha for Mentoring Artists for Womens Art (MAWA), Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event was co-sponsored by the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and presenters included artists Barbara Todd, Ruth Cuthand, Jin-me Yoon, Aganetha Dyck, Louise Willow May and Leslie Reid.
A video program, Looking for Trouble: Tapes by Unruly Mothers, which I co-curated with Laurel Swenson was shown as part of the conference.
I also produced a video, Delivery: Artist Mothers on Tape, with conference participants.
