Imaging Place is project that has been ongoing since 1997, linking place and media in an interactive narrative space.  There is a video on the site documenting some of the places that have been ‘imaged’.

The good people of MIT have created a large image map with each tile being an average of the images associated with a noun in the English language. There are over 53 thousand words, with each word having an average of 140 images associated with it. Only the first 16 are shown when you click on a tile.
