1st embroidery session…..testing, testing Monday, October 6th, 2008

Thank you for your patience everyone! Here is the long awaited text that was meant to accompany the images I attempted to post on Oct.6th, 2008.

My goal this semester, was to originally combine print media in combination with surface design and digital embroidery techniques. I have come to a decision that I would alter this slightly. The machine that I am developing an intimate relationship is one that has capabilities beyond my initial comprehension. So I felt compelled to develop a body of work this semester that represented experimentation using this machine that not only would serve as a resource tool for upcoming  creative and educational opportunities  but allow for me to trouble shoot and technical possibilities. With that being said, I am looking to compile a sample book that will display a series of  fabric samples (ie. stitches, designs, threads, variety of materials, etc. that will serve as a visual aid for future operators.  This will just be a basic introduction to the machine, sample wise,  as my goal is to continue compiling all my experimental sample making  ( good and bad) come next semester as I begin to build my work for the grad show.

As the weeks progress, I will be adding more images, research material as well as notes on all things related to textiles and digital embroidery.  Trust me more exciting things are to come!!!!!

To view images from my first session and test with the SWF single head embroidery machine please feel free to browse my Embroidery Gallery. These images represent a test I made using a stock image provided by the embroidery software. It used rayon Sulky thread on a bamboo knit fabric that was reinforced with a non woven sew-in interfacing….sorry no tear away used here :)
