I think I can speak on behalf of not only the photography department but Emily Carr in general that we are very proud of this years graduating class. It is so rewarding to see all the hard work and effort fall seamlessly together in the last weeks of the semester into wonderful bodies of work from all different departments and mediums. Kevin Griffin, an art and culture writer from The Vancouver Sun took a walk through the annual Degree Exhibition to soak up the “riot of creativity”. Reading through the article, it was beyond exciting to read about each of the works from different disciplines and mediums providing a small glimpse at the works in the show. Even more exciting was to see the Griffin stumbled upon the photography departments own Marta Wesselhoff‘s work, Things I Have Feared.
“One work stopped me in my tracks: a series of photos by Marta Wesselhoff of a young man with his chest bare but his head and face covered in a kind of knitted hood. Called Things I Have Feared, it’s a powerful, powerful series of photographs.”
You rock, Marta!
Congratulations to the entire graduating class of 2011 of Emily Carr University of Art + Design!
