Safe Work Procedures

Departments should have their own written safe work procedures for any jobs where there is the potential for injury.  This typically relates to:

  • the workshops and the safe use of equipment and machinery
  • safe handling of hazardous materials
  • safe use of various equipment used for cutting
  • safe handling of heavy equipment such as full buckets in ceramics

Safe work procedures should outline what the hazards of the job are and the potential risk of injury, along with the controls that should be followed or used to try and prevent any injury from occurring.

For assistance in developing safe work procedures for your area, please contact the Manager, Safety, Conduct and Emergency Management (604-844-3816 or glloyd@ecuad.ca).
