The Technical Surfaces exhibition was up from October 2-13th and it was a grand success! Feedback was received from staff, faculty and students and everyone said it was great to see personal work from technicians. A wide and diverse array of work was shown from 35 technicians from the Technical Services Department.
Technical Surfaces is an exhibition of creative work from technicians in each of the university’s shops and studio areas that represents the largest staff group within the school. Work from over 30 individuals is being showcased. With many working in cross-disciplines in addition to their area of technical support, this exhibition demonstrates the personal commitment given to their practice and clearly makes evident the level of skill, experience and professionalism these staff members offer the Emily Carr community.
The exhibition runs from October 2-13th and is held in the Concourse Gallery. Opening Reception is Thursday, October 4th from 5-8pm.
The Technical Services Team had a great day at Jericho Beach, meeting and bonding while having fun in the sun. Well actually, there was little sun and quite a few clouds but fun was still had by all! We’ll have to do it again next year!

Welcome to the Technical Services blog. The Technical Services Department consists of a team of technicians and specialists from a broad spectrum of disciplines who provide curriculum support to the University’s students, faculty and staff for all areas outside of computer resources. Most are practicing artists with technical specialization in specific areas. Their breadth of knowledge of materials, processes and emerging technologies contributes to the cross-disciplinary quality of Emily Carr’s learning environment.
