About

Founded in 2013 by like-minded faculty, staff and students at Emily Carr University, Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, the Vegan Congress is an activist group providing events and information about vegan practice. Veganism is a form of nonviolent action devoted to the promotion of justice for nonhuman animals. Vegan action includes the rejection of the consumption and exploitation of animals and animal by-products.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Vegan Congress is to offer compassionate means to consider nonhuman animals as subjects-of-life and therefore of equal moral value as humans. The Vegan Congress practices mindful action towards eliminating suffering of nonhuman animals and provides practical information to the public on the benefits of cruelty-free diet, clothing and other material practices.
