Meet Your Tutor: Christine Wei

I recently graduated with a BFA in Illustration. Illustration is fascinating to me, as it allows me to visualize conceptual ideas through a unique voice. I often draw inspirations from mundane life for my illustrations. I truly believe art is deeply rooted in nature and culture as long as I keep an open mind for it. I also enjoy reading poems and my passion for poetry really helps me to cultivate a poetic expression, so I can illustrate banality through a imaginative lens. Personally, I think having a unique voice is very important not only in illustration but also in writing. I always try to encourage writers to retain their own distinctive perspectives during their writing process. I am from Taiwan, Taipei, which is another very rainy city during the fall and winter. So even when some people dislike the melancholy weather in Vancouver, I find it very calming and comforting.
